Tour de France 2026 — Stage 1 Preview & Complete US Fan Guide

The greatest cycling race on earth begins on July 4, 2026 — a perfect Independence Day companion for US sports fans. The Tour de France 2026 promises an extraordinary battle for the yellow jersey over 21 stages and 3,500 kilometres of French roads.

The GC Contenders

Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) is the defending champion and overwhelming favourite. The Slovenian is the most dominant stage racer of his generation — fast on the flat, terrifying in the mountains, and an exceptional time trialist. Winning back-to-back Tours looks very possible.

Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) is Pogačar's greatest rival. The Dane, twice a Tour winner himself, will push Pogačar to his absolute limit in the Alps and Pyrenees.

Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) brings time trial excellence and improving climbing ability — a genuine wild card for the podium.
